This project used GIS workflows to evaluate how well bicycle infrastructure matches demand across the University of Houston campus, identifying spatial imbalances between parking capacity and actual usage to support data-driven planning. I ran a field survey of 74 bike-rack locations using ArcGIS Field Maps, collecting data around noon on a weekday to capture peak campus activity and recording both total capacity and real-time usage (bicycles and scooters). In ArcGIS Pro, I processed the survey into a bivariate visualization of infrastructure performance, where library racks ran past 100% capacity while dormitory racks sat largely empty.

Highlights

  • Surveyed 74 bike-rack locations with ArcGIS Field Maps at weekday peak (around noon).
  • Recorded total capacity and real-time usage, counting both bicycles and scooters.
  • Built a bivariate symbology in ArcGIS Pro to expose capacity-versus-demand imbalances.
